Les Quatre Sans Cul

   Erigé en 1838 par le sculpteur grenoblois Sappey, à la mémoire du Général de Boigne (1751-1830) qui acquit gloire et fortune aux Indes. Revenu dans sa ville natale, il sut être généreux et montra qu'il était un urbaniste avisé en perçant au centre de la ville ancienne la monumentale " rue de Boigne " bordée de portiques à la mode turinoise. Cette statue représente quatre éléphants tronqués, d'où l'appellation familière " quatre sans cul ". Cette base est surmontée d'une colonne supportant la statue du général De Boigne.

   Erected in the year 1838 by the sculptor Sappey from Grenoble, for the memory of general De Boigne (1751-1830) who acquired fame and fortune in the Indies. Coming back in his native town, he showed himself generous and a wise urbanist by opening in the center of the old town the monumental De Boigne street ornate with Torinese style porticos. This monument shows four elephants without their back, so they are familiarly named by an expression which translate in " the four without arse ". This base is surmounted by a column wich holds up the statue of general De Boigne.
